Changing Places / Exchange Your Home

If you live in a NWH home which no longer meets your needs, maybe due to medical reasons, or that it has become too large or small for your needs or for other personal reasons, then you can apply to be considered for another NWH property, or find someone to swap homes with.

Transferring to another NWH property

Due to the extremely high demand for our homes we need to make sure that we re-house the people in the greatest housing need, so we have introduced  a two stage application process,.

Please contact your local Housing Team to make an application.

Exchanges

If you are a NWH tenant with a full Assured or Secure Tenancy then you may have the right to exchange homes with another NWH tenant or tenants of a council or other Housing Association.

You can advertise your current home and the type of property you want by completing the attached form, the completed form will then be included in the Exchange Register and displayed on our reception area.

Each landlord will have their own exchange register so you will need to ensure that you contact other Registered Social Landlords with housing in the area in which you would like to live.

Homeswapper Exchange Scheme

In addition to advertising your home in our register, you can advertise and view other properties by using the national exchange scheme for Councils and Housing Associations.  This service is free to tenants of NWH, as we will cover your registration costs. If you have a different landlord you will need to ask them if they are members of the scheme, otherwise you will need to pay a small registration fee.
