Pendinas is a detached house dating from the 1930’s. It is situated in a quiet residential area of Upper Bangor, where a number of local amenities are available. The project is managed by a supportive and friendly team of workers.

Accommodation
Pendinas provides temporary accommodation with a maximum stay of 9 months. A licence is issued to residents with a possible renewal each month.

Referrals

Access to the project is by referral only:
The referral agencies are:

a) Community Mental Health Team
b) Homeless Outreach Worker
c) North Wales Probation Service
d) Youth Choices
e) Social Services
f) Mental Health Advocacy Scheme
g) Housing Department
h) Gwynedd Drugs Advisory Service
i) The Careers Company

Each resident must have a Key-worker and a support package in place before moving into Pendinas.

Staff will assist all new residents in applying for Housing Benefit where applicable to cover rent charges.

A nominal charge, which Housing Benefit does not pay for, shall be collected from each resident on a weekly basis to cover services such as gas and electricity.

Aim
The aim of the project is to provide temporary accommodation for single people; and to facilitate move-on to more permanent accommodation with support as needed by the individual and to assist the client to settle in and maintain their tenancy.

The staff team work with clients via a personal support plan to develop life skills, budgeting, healthy living etc and to access education, training, employment and other community facilities.

The project is staffed on a 7 day, 24 hour basis. Staff at the scheme are here to assist and advise residents with a variety of problems, contacting other agencies as necessary, general benefits advice, assistance with securing alternative permanent accommodation and applying for grants/loans, where applicable, for the new accommodation. We have well established links with a wide range of statutory and voluntary agencies so if we cannot help, we usually know someone who can.

North Wales Housing Association
The NWHA has in place Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities Policies and also a grievance procedure. The Association has also been awarded with Investors in People
