Round a Rownd
Round a Rownd was devised foremost as a community development initiative
Based on feedback, NWH recognised the need to engage with tenants and help them to enrich their neighbourhood by increasing communication, and offering support and advice to enable us to work in partnership to make a significant improvement to the area in which they live.
From May 2009, every last Wednesday of the month our offices close down and all of the Association’s staff go out in teams to visit their designated areas. This includes the Chief Executive, staff from our Hostels, Finance staff and Admin staff who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to visit our homes or meet with residents. It recognises that all of our staff – regardless of their role or position within the organisation – have a responsibility to our tenants and their needs.
As staff have been visiting the same areas over the first few months, they have got to know residents better and are understanding more fully what the key issues are. This has enabled us to work with residents on small projects to help alleviate some of the problems or improve their environment. This has already included litter picks, tackling dog fouling and community gardening projects. Our Finance and Revenues Manager has been visiting a hostel in Colwyn Bay to do ‘cook and eat’ sessions where residents have been encouraged to follow simple recipes and cook a meal that they can then eat.
We have also got to know much more of what goes on at our estates and residents have felt more relaxed in reporting issues that may have developed if left unchecked, but instead are being dealt with at a very early stage.
Below is a timetable of NWH estate visits, so take a look to see when we will be visiting you, and get involved!!!!!!
