North Wales Housing take a risk at annual staff conference

North Wales Housing has held its annual staff conference where guest speakers included Commonwealth Gold medallist Diane Modahl and risk expert and former professional poker player, Caspar Berry.

Around 140 staff from across the business attended the full day event and which included a series of presentations, games, workshops and sessions. Speakers Diane Modahl and Caspar Berry shared their experiences, views and outlook on teamwork and risk taking respectivley, discussing how both are important factors to consider in a person’s life both at work and at home.

The day was a double cause for celebration as this year marks the associations 40th birthday. A series of short films were produced to help mark the occasion, highlighting key events and occasions for North Wales Housing during the past four decades. A number of staff featured in a film, all singing along to Madness classic, ‘Our House’ alongside Chief Executive, Paul Diggory who also interviewed one of the founder board members, Alice Robinson. Alice recalled the early days of North Wales Hosing where the board met in the local pub, managing just a handful of houses.

The conference also proved an ideal opportunity to hold the staff awards, celebrating the achievements of the team throughout the year.

Paul Diggory, Chief Executive of North Wales Housing said:

“This is a real landmark year for us and the conference allowed us to reflect on all of our achievements. The association has grown and evolved so much through the past 40 years – today we manage over 2500 homes and have diversified considerably, providing supported housing and older persons housing. Major schemes will be completed this year including extra care schemes in Bangor and Abergele.”

“We’ve had some really positive feedback from all of our staff who both enjoyed the day and clearly felt a sense of pride at being part of an organisation that has made a true difference to the lives of local people across North Wales.”
