North Wales Housing staff get riding for Nikki

A team of nine from North Wales Housing have hopped on their saddles to take part in an ambitious bike ride to raise money for a housing colleague affected by cancer.

The group made up of Andrea Williams, Gethin Morris, Nathan Wright, Rich Snaith, Phil Danson, Shelley Williams, Catrin Roberts, Clare Greenwood and Jude Horsnell set off on a 54 mile journey during the first leg of the fundraising challenge from Colwyn Bay to Dolgellau. They joined a team of 16, cycling from Colwyn Bay to Newport, 180 miles over three days.

‘Hope 4 Nikki’ has been set up by Friends of Nikki Thomas from Seren Group to help raise funds to cover the cost of specialist treatment, therapies and investigations for a rare form of cancer which cannot be funded in Wales.

Cyclists from organisations across Wales including Monmouthshire Housing, the Seren Group, Tai Calon, Mid Wales HA, RCT Homes and Community Housing Cymru have all pledged their cycling support.

Sponsorship from friends, family and colleagues has so far raised over £5,000, with more still being collected.

Jude Horsnell of North Wales Housing said:

“We’re all a bit saddle sore but we’ve all really enjoyed the day and have been touched by the support we’ve received. We’ve raise a terrific amount for an incredibly worthy cause and we’re delighted to be able to help fund important treatment for a colleague and friend.”
