In all aspects of our business we aim to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
We are committed to improving environmental performance across all of our business activities, and will encourage our business partners and members of the wider community to join us in this effort.
We have developed a vision of a sustainable future for North Wales Housing:
“Our vision for 2050 is that we will provide high quality, resource efficient homes in communities that value their local environment and take an active role in protecting and enhancing the long-term wellbeing of their area. We will place high value on ecologically healthy environments where community leadership promotes participation in decisions that affect the local area and the wider community. By working together we will continue to develop a sustainable future for North Wales Housing. Your future, Our future.”
A new Sustainability Strategy is currently being developed, which will include key measurable objectives.
An important step on the journey to become a genuinely sustainable organisation was achieving a Silver SHIFT award (Sustainable Homes Index for Tomorrow) in November 2014, a government endorsed benchmarking scheme which analyses the environmental performance of housing associations. We were awarded Silver again in 2016.
North Wales Housing has also collaborated with Grŵp Cynefin to offer tenants in Gwynedd, Conwy and Anglesey the services of Community Energy Wardens who provide tenants with impartial help and advice on energy, and as a result save them money.
