Abolition of the Right to Buy and Associated Rights (Wales) Act 2018

Your right as a North Wales Housing tenant to buy or acquire your home will end on the 26th January 2019. This is because of a new law introduced in Wales called the Abolition of the Right to Buy and Associated Rights (Wales) Act 2018.

The Right to Buy, the Right to Acquire and Preserved Right to Buy will end on the 24th March 2018 for ‘new homes’.

New Homes are classed as properties that have not been let as social housing for the six months before 24th March 2018.

These changes that may affect you are explained in the ‘Information about the end of the Right to Buy & Right to Acquire in wales’ booklet which is available to read here. This is a guide which explains what you need to know about the end of the Right to Buy and the Right to Acquire and what you should do if you are thinking about applying to buy your home from us.
