Residents get creative in partnership art project

A group of supported housing service users from North Wales Housing developed their creative side at an inspiring arts programme in partnership between North Wales Housing and Gwynedd Council’s Museums & Arts Service.

The group of 8 tenants and service users, completed a series of six weekly art workshops in the company of local artist Karen Ball which introduced them to a range of artistic disciplines and techniques.

Julie Eddowes Outreach and Resettlement Officer of North Wales Housing said:

This has been a brilliant project that has not only allowed the tenants and service users to develop their skills and provide an outlet for their expression, but has encouraged the group to work as a team, share their experiences, opinions and feelings.

The resulting work from all of them is incredible and shows some serious talent!”

Participants from North Wales Housing’s hostel St Mary’s, Gwynedd Dispersed and Outreach and Resettlement in Bangor who attended the sessions really enjoyed the experience.

North Wales Housing tenant Dafydd Lloyd who took part in the project said:

I enjoyed the workshops immensely; it was a very pleasant art experience and the work was diverse and interesting. We hope to have more activities like this in the future”

All art sessions were held at Storiel, the newly opened Gwynedd Museum and Art Gallery in Bangor.

Julie Eddowes added:

This was a fantastic setting to work in, an amazing space that provided much inspiration for the artwork.”
