St David’s Hospice as winning charity for North Wales Housing

North Wales Housing has announced its support for St David’s Hospice, pledging to undertake a range of charitable initiatives and challenges to help raise money for the North Wales charity.

The announcement was made by NWH Chief Executive, Paul Diggory, at the annual conference.

Emma Williams, Assistant Director Finance and member of the charity group explains:

This was the first year we opened up the selection to staff, putting nominated charities up for vote.

We’re extremely pleased that St David’s Hospice was the winning charity and we look forward to fundraising for them and help raise awareness of the good work that they do.”

St David’s Hospice is a local registered charity providing free end of life care to adult patients from across North West Wales. Each year, they look after over 1,600 patients suffering with progressive, life threatening illnesses. The donations received go directly on patient care and supports families, friends and colleagues in the communities of Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey.

Hospice Business Development Officer, Kathryn Morgan Jones said:

On behalf of everyone at St David’s Hospice, we are absolutely delighted to be the chosen charity for the North Wales Housing. Both of our organisations are dedicated to the communities of North Wales and we are delighted that the work of St David’s Hospice has inspired the staff to support our charity.

We are really looking forward to working with an award winning team and showing them that together we can give our patients and families the best quality of life possible.”

North Wales Housing has also formed a Charity group for the first time this year, responsible for co-ordinate fundraising activities throughout the year.

Emma Williams reveals what’s in the pipeline:

We already have some brilliant fundraising events in the pipeline, from a sponsored walk up Snowdon and a summer fete. We will also be taking part in the Dragon Boat Challenge organised by St David’s Hospice in Llanberis on 2nd July which will be fun.

Last year we raised over £6,000 for Wales Air Ambulance. We want to top that this year, so watch this space!”
