What is a complaint?

North Wales Housing values feedback from our tenants, we use this feedback to improving the services we offer you.

We even value complaints. But what exactly is classified as a complaint? In this article, suggested by the Residents’ Advisory Panel (RAP) we clarify what is a complaint and what it isn’t covered by our complaints procedure.

What is classed as a complaint?

A complaint is where a customer is unhappy with the service they have received from NWH or any of our contractors. This includes occasions where you believe that:

  • We have done something we should not have done
  • We have not done something we should have done
  • The behaviour of a NWH employee (or a contractor) has been inappropriate
  • A service we provided has not been delivered to the quality, safety, frequency or cost expected
  • Our decision making process has been flawed
  • NWH have worked outside policy or protocol

What is not covered by our complaints procedure?

  • This is the first contact regarding the issue
  • The correct department has not had the opportunity to address the issue
  • Issues regarding anti-social behaviour

You can find out more about our complaints procedure, or submit a complaint (or compliment!) by vising our complaints page here.

Strong turnout for NWH employment opportunities open day

North Wales Housing reported a strong turnout for its first ever employment opportunities open day.

Held at two venues, the NWH office at Plas Blodwel in Llandudno Junction and the organisation’s Dean Street office in Bangor, over 100 people called in to find out more about positions available both now and in the future.

Lynne Williams, Head of Personnel said:

“We wanted people to know about the diversity of employment opportunities that we have on offer here at North Wales Housing. We had a number of colleagues available on the day to share their experiences of working at North Wales Housing in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.”

As well as providing information on vacancies, NWH also offered advice on how to complete applications, explained more about the organisation’s Welsh language policy and provided an insight into the benefits that the organisation offers to its employees.

Lynne added:

“We are a growing organisation and currently have positions available and will have more in the future. We will be asking for feedback from the people that attended our Open Day to plan for further events but in the meantime we will be advising them of any future vacancies that we have. “

A spring clean to go green

Residents at housing estates throughout the Conwy region have made use of a number of temporary giant skips, binning old and disused waste that will be used for recycling as part of a series of ‘Environmental Action Days’.

The North Wales Housing managed initiative began as a one off some six years ago and has since turned into an annual event that residents look forward to as an opportunity for a big festive clear out.

Household items from washing machines, TV’s and small electrical goods are skipped alongside broken fencing toys, games and much more. The massive skip is then collected and goods recycled and reused where possible.

Garth Butcher of North Wales Housing, who helps manage the day said:

“Not only is this Environmental Day a great opportunity for people to have a clear out but it also encourages community members to meet and chat. Often you’ll find that neighbours who have never spoken to each other start to engage and help each other out which is brilliant!”

In total, 24 skips will be placed within local communities with each holding two tonnes of waste. Once completed after the 12 week roll out, the North Wales Housing team will have expected to collected almost 50 tonnes of waste.
