A little Extra Care at AGM

North Wales Housing held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 16th July. Staff, Board members, shareholders and tenants came together at the annual event at OpTIC Centre, St Asaph Business Park.

The focus this year was on the ‘Independence and Well-Being of Older People’, with Angela Bradford, Commissioning and Healthy Lifestyle Director with the ExtraCare Charitable Trust sharing the results of research by Aston University commissioned by ExtraCare showing the positive impact their accommodation and services have on NHS costs.

This was the first time the AGM was held in Denbighshire, a reflection of the Housing Association’s increased level of business in the county and its growing geographical spread across North Wales.

Paul Diggory, Chief Executive for North Wales Housing said:

The housing available for older people is nowhere near enough to cope with the growth in in the older population. We need models that integrate housing, health and social care to underpin the quality of life that we all aspire to.”

NWH also took the opportunity to welcome two new Board members to the Landlord Services Board. Carol Downes and Caroline Thomas are both NWH residents and were previously members of the Residents’ Advisory Panel, a group of residents who regularly review NWH performance, policy issues and areas for improvement.

The two new members replace Gerry Davies and Adrian Baugh, also NWH residents, who have recently completed their 9 year term for the Board.

Peter Gibson, Chair of North Wales Housing’s Group Board said:

We’re very grateful to Gerry and Adrian for their contribution to the success of North Wales Housing. Now it’s time to look forward by welcoming two new members to our Landlord Services Board who will bring a different perspective.”
