Change at the top for North Wales Housing

North Wales Housing’s Chief Executive for more than 15 years, Paul Diggory, is moving on from his role at the end of May.

Paul Diggory said:

“I’ve planned for some time to make a change once I’m 60. I don’t intend to retire but will be working across the housing and social enterprise sectors on a freelance basis, keeping more time to pursue some of my other interests,”

“It’s been a privilege to have carried out this role for so long and to have worked with so many great people over that time. Most of all I feel very proud of what we’ve achieved at North Wales Housing during my time, of how we’ve progressed and, in particular, the people we’ve helped and the positive difference we’ve made to people’s lives”.

At the end of 2015 North Wales Housing were presented with the Silver Award for ‘Best Housing Association’ at the What Homes UK Awards in London. Paul represented the Chartered Institute of Housing as its President in 2007-08, one of his personal career highlights which involved speaking at international events in places like Hong Kong, Cape Town and Vancouver.

Another achievement was receiving the 2015 Welsh Housing Award for ‘Outstanding Contribution’. Paul explains his joy:

“To be acknowledged by my peers in that way was very special.”

Paul will initially be replaced by an Interim Chief Executive, Owen Ingram, who will start on 31st May. This has allowed the organisation to carry out an exercise to assess the strategic options they may have in the future. Now that has been completed, it’s been decided to start the recruitment of a new permanent Chief Executive, who will be expected to take up the post later this year.

North Wales Housing’s Group Chair Peter Gibson comments:

“Paul is going to be a very hard act to follow. He has been instrumental in giving NWH such a high profile and it is pleasing that his efforts have been recognised locally and nationally.”

“His constant drive and enthusiasm have proved the catalyst for so many excellent initiatives and have put NWH in a strong position for the future.”

“On behalf of the Board I would like to thank him for everything he has done and wish him all the very best in his retirement. It is good to know that he will not be withdrawing from the housing scene as he undoubtedly still has much to give.”
