Annual Review: Time to look back at 2019 – 2020

It’s that time of year again, the time for the Annual General Meeting where shareholders come together to discuss Governance matters. This year will be the first time the meeting will be held online due to Covid-19.

The AGM gives us an opportunity to look back at the year gone by, reflect on its challenges and celebrate its successes. We have put together this Annual Review which summarises the year well. Click on the image to view:

EPC surveys to be carried out by Elvet

Starting 1st September 2020 a company called Elvet Construction will be carrying out Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) surveys at tenants’ homes. We expect this work to be going on for at least a couple of months as they work their way through 600+ properties.

We are doing this work for a number of reasons connected to improving our understanding of the properties and planning for any possible decarbonisation works to meet our climate change objectives.

Elvet staff will all carry identification and will make appointments in advance. They have provided a full risk assessment in light of the continuing risk from Covid_19 and will be using appropriate PPE.

Thank you for your help in allowing the surveys to go ahead while complying with social distancing rules.

New look website

The website has had a bit of a makeover. Farewell red, hello green. What do you think?

Following feedback from tenants and staff we decided it was time we changed the website. The functionality is generally the same, but we have changed the colours and the layout. This is part of a bigger drive on digital.

We hope you like the new look website. What do you think? What else can we do to improve it? Please get in touch and let us know [email protected].

Changes to Extra Care Schemes arrangements

Welsh Government have announced changes from 1st June relaxing lockdown rules, allowing members of two separate households to meet outdoors at any one time as long as they stay local and maintain social distancing.

We have carefully considered how these changes affect our Extra Care Schemes. Our first concern is always for the safety of our residents and staff and we have cautiously considered how these changes can be implemented in practice.

  • Visitors will now be allowed outdoors on the scheme, and have will be provided with additional guidelines.
  • We will designate socially distanced areas on the scheme for accommodating visitors.
  • We are asking visitors to pre-book visitors appointments with the Manager to ensure that we have adequate seating and social distance measures at all times in place.
  • People must also continue to wash their hands thoroughly and often.

If you have any questions, or would like to make an appointment, please contact the scheme Manager.

Rakes and Ladders are back!

After looking carefully at how the Team can work whilst still socially distancing, from this week Rakes and Ladders will be re-starting grounds maintenance services.

They will be grass cutting, weed-killing, litter picking and any small work clearing with hand tools.

They will start with a long cut to the grass and then, on follow up visits, reduce the length of the grass.  This technique will be required to protect the grass and the mowers.

Thank you for patience.

Changes to opening hours

North Wales Housing will be closed Friday 8th May 2020 as it is a Bank Holiday. We will open again on Monday 11th May 2020.

Only emergency repairs will be done during this time. These can be reported by calling 01492 572727.

We hope you have a nice weekend; please remember to stay at home and stay safe.

Awyr Las revealed as NWH charity of the year

We are extremely pleased to reveal that our chosen charity for this year is… Awyr Las

Awyr Las is a local North Wales charity that works alongside the NHS to ensure that patients benefit from better NHS services when they need them the most.

The charity provides life-changing equipment and services for patients in hospitals and in communities across North Wales from small items like comfortable chairs for A&E and dialysis patients to cutting-edge technology for the cancer, stroke and special care baby units.

At a time where so much admiration and gratitude is shown to our NHS staff, we think this a very fitting charity for us to be supporting.
